its because the dye in the lego + the amazing strength of the gun
Old brown bricks are extremely weak, so this is common. There is something in the brown(I don't remember) color plastic that makes it weaker than usual
That a defect from lego, you can ask for a refund, they had defective brown color for some time

Bult it but it does not work rubber bands can’t put more then five or it will Explode and it loads all at the same time used lots of different rubber band types and nothing work moded some parts and yet no hope 😭3/10

This is actually very good built because it uses rubberbands to shoot a 3 stud long beam, because not long ago i saw an ad for "lego" gun, and their model was using a specialized piece.
